Years Until Retirement
About This Calculator
How many years until retirement? This calculator gives you the number precisely, breaking the time down into complete years, months, and days from today until the age you plan to stop working. Enter your date of birth and retirement age to see it.
The count of years remaining is a useful planning anchor. It frames how long you have to build savings, how many more annual cycles of work lie ahead, and how close the finish line really is. Seeing the exact figure — not just a whole number of years but the extra months and days — makes the estimate concrete, and the total-days count gives an even finer view for those who like to track progress closely.
Your retirement date is your date of birth plus your retirement age in whole years, with leap-day and month-end birthdays clamped correctly. The remaining time is measured from today using the real length of each month, so the years and months are accurate rather than approximated.
To use it, choose your date of birth, set your retirement age, and press Calculate. The years remaining and your retirement date appear instantly, computed privately in your browser. If you have already reached the age you enter, the calculator shows when you reached it instead.
This tool performs date math only and is not financial or pension advice — check your official retirement age with the relevant authority. For the same information framed as a countdown or a fixed date, try the retirement countdown and retirement date calculator.

Formula & Methodology
