When Can I Retire?

About This Calculator

"When can I retire?" comes down to a date, and this calculator finds it. Enter your date of birth and the age you plan to retire, and it returns the exact day you reach that age — the date and the weekday — along with how long is left until then.

Having a specific day to point to makes retirement feel real and plannable. Instead of "sometime around sixty", you get a date on the calendar, which is far more useful for arranging finances, giving notice, and picturing the transition. The countdown in years, months, and days shows how much working time is ahead, and the total-days figure lets you track progress closely.

Your retirement date is your date of birth plus the retirement age in whole years, with leap-day and month-end birthdays handled correctly. The time remaining is counted from today using real month lengths, so the years and months are accurate. Try a few different retirement ages to see how each one moves the date.

To use it, choose your date of birth, set your retirement age, and press Calculate. Your retirement date and the time left appear instantly, computed privately in your browser with nothing sent anywhere. If you have already reached the age you enter, it tells you when.

This is a date calculator, not financial or pension advice — whether you can afford to retire on a given date is a separate question, and official pension ages are set by the relevant authority. For a running countdown, the retirement countdown and how long until I retire tools use the same engine.

How It Works

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Enter your retirement age in years.
  3. Click “Calculate”.
  4. See your retirement date and how long is left until then.

Formula & Methodology

The result is worked out as follows:

Retirement date = Date of birth + retirement age; Time left = years / months / days until then

Your retirement date is your date of birth plus your retirement age in whole years. The time until then is the complete years, months, and days from today to that date, with a total-days figure alongside.
